Mason JV Remains Unbeaten
Wednesday, October 6, 2010 • Posted October 6, 2010

The Mason JV squad traveled to Baird on Thursday to take on the Cubs from Olney in their final road, non-district game of the year.

The Punchers jumped on the board early in the first when Elliot Bibb found Cody Wood in the end-zone for a 21 yard touchdown. The Punchers were able to put another score on the board before the quarter ran out. Mason then used their defense, like usual, to dominate the rest of the game.

When it looked like Olney would answer and the Punchers might not see the ball again before half, Bibb made the play of the game. Bibb broke on a pass, picking it off, and returned it 95 yards for a touchdown making the score 21-0 at the half. Emilio Palacio added a score on a 3 yard run to keep the scoring going for the Punchers.

With the game in hand, and a running clock, the Punchers were able to work different aspects of their game in the 2nd half. Bibb continued to look for his receivers like Elijah Dickinson who had a big catch for a 1st down conversion and Leret Hemphill out of the backfield who had 2 catches in the second half. Hemphill, along with Steven Villareal and Tanner Dutton also had big games on the defensive side for the Punchers.

When the final second ticked away, the scoreboard showed 27-0 Mason. Thursday October 7th, the Mason sub-varsities will take on Johnson City at the Puncherdome. The JV game-time is set for 7:30.
