The Junior High Football teams hit the road again this past Thursday evening, this time they headed north to take on the Olney Cubs at a midway point in Baird Texas.

The Cubs proved to be a worthy opponent with a very large back-field and offensive line. Both teams jockeyed back and forth in the first quarter with no one able to score. The Puncher defense did an excellent job, however, keeping the Cubs out of Puncher territory. Pedro Rivera, Luke Gillespie, and James Durst held their own between the tackles while Alejandro Martinez, Andy Gilley, Seth Hudson, and Jacob Moreno stopped the Cubs off tackle.

In the 2nd period Seth Hudson, Garret Bibb, and Andy Gilley followed offensive linemen on a nice drive that ended with a Seth Hudson score from the 14 yard line. Levi Hofmann hauled in a throwback pass from Hudson for the point after and the Punchers lead 0-8.

After the break, the Puncher offensive line men went to work and opened some nice holes for our running backs. On 3rd and 4 from the Olney 37 yard line Pedro Rivera set a good trap block for Andy Gilley for the score and Hudson hit Hofmann for the point after pass which put the Punchers out in front 0-16.

The Punchers controlled the line of scrimmage on offense as well as defense in the fourth period. Linemen Jose Calderon, Jacob Moreno, Nick Martin, and Jonathan Gonzalez opened several lanes for Bibb, Dyer, and Gilley. Our receivers blocked well downfield, these included Jacob Harris, Randal Torrez, Daniel Parker, James Durst, Seth Brewer, and J.D. Anders.

Next week the Punchers will host the visitors from Johnson City.
