If your family trees include members to these families, or if you have a general interest in early Texas History, you are invited to a dedication scheduled at 12 o’clock on October 30th to honor the Banta’s, McDonalds, Taylor’s and others related to these families that served in the Texas Rangers on the Frontier during the latter part of the 19th century. This ceremony will be conducted in Harper, Texas, at the Community Center and will be followed by a special service conducted by the Former Texas Rangers, the Sons of Confederate Veterans and the Order of Confederate Rose Associations at the Old Spring Creek Cemetery where a granite stone bearing the names of these Rangers will be dedicated. Many of our ancestors are buried here and it is appropriate that we honor their memory.
Lunch will be served by the Harper Historical Association served at the Community Center beginning at 12 o’clock. You may wish to bring portable seating for your comfort at the Cemetery.
This Cemetery is located on a private ranch and we appreciate the present owner Charles Bierschwale’s gracious access for this special occasion.
The organizers would appreciate notice of your plans to attend to aid in estimating the numbers of meal to be prepared.
