Kensing Family Reunion
Wednesday, October 27, 2010 • Posted October 27, 2010

Twenty-one descendents of Alfred and Ida Kensing gathered Saturday to review and explore our heritage. Our great-great grandparents were massacred by the Indians in 1865. We began our day at the Ray Geistweidt Ranch off Threadgill Road to see the massacre sight. Ray told the group the stories about the event that he learned from his relatives. We then went the gravesite on the Bierschwale Ranch in Gillespie County. This site has a state historical marker on the graves which was added in 1972.

After lunch of dried sausage, cheese, sandwiches and cookies, the group went to the Crosby Cemetery and the Gooch Cemetery to view family plots. Repairs are currently being made to a plot at the Crosby Cemetery and plans were made for the next workday on this project.

The day ended with a rain shower.
