November 2008 my hunter had killed his trophy so he wanted to just sit in a blind with his camera and see what happened. In a few moments a bobcat came to water. He was on his hind legs drinking when a noise in the brush frightened him. He jumped into the water and back out in a flash. My hunter was clicking away. It was a magic moment for both the hunter and myself.
Later, I realized that I had seen many magic moments before, but with no way to record them. Encouraged by my wife, I decided I wanted to learn about photography. I sought advice from Willeda Rea, an accomplished photographer, about the proper equipment. Soon, after spending all of my wife’s life savings, I had a great hobby.
Being native to Mason County still hasn’t dulled me to the beauty of our region. I love the opportunity to capture God’s awesome creations in nature. I am always alert for the magic moments I can photograph in our wonderful world.
