Do you have 45 minutes to spare, one day a week, during your lunch hour? This is the amount of time that it takes to mentor a child during the school year.
The importance of spending some time and being a role model for a young person cannot be over estimated. We have several children that have requested a mentor. This has become a very popular thing during the past few years. Shanda Schmidt states that she has ten children come to her office, some every day, to ask for one. The greatest need is for men, but women are also needed.
We are fortunate in many ways to live in a small community, and this gives an opportunity to surround our youth with our love, care and protection. There is nothing more important taking care of our children.
I would like to extend an invitation to businesses with enough people to cover their lunch hour to consider mentoring.
We have a short training program that will give all of the information that you will need as well as ways to get started with your child.
Mason is in many ways a unique community. We are known as people that take care of their own. I am proud to live in a place that has so many organizations that do this.
