Wednesday, November 10, 2010 • Posted November 10, 2010

Renee Walker, poet, writer, and columnist for the Mason County News has sold out copies of her third book, Around the Square. The book is a compilation of her first year’s (2004) columns. Around the Square received an "Award of Excellence" for its design from the Regional AIGA (American Institute of Graphic Design) Design Origination Competition. A few copies of the book may still be available at The Thing Is and Mason Square Museum. The book will not be reprinted. However, an Around the Square II is planned for publication in the near future which will be a collection of more recent columns and designed with similar format to compliment the first book.

Renee’s second book, Hill Country & Other Poems, won the WILLA Literary Award Finalist for Poetry. This is a prestigious award from Women Writing the West with submissions judged by other writers and poets, editors, publishers, and librarians.

Hill Country & Other Poems also won an "Award of Achievement" for its design from the AIGA. Both books were designed by Julie Mader-Meersman of originalia, a design studio, in Alexandria, Kentucky. Hill Country & Other Poems is in its second printing.

The book is available at Benjie’s, Mason Square Museum, and The Thing Is, or can be purchased directly from the author.
