The Mason Lions Club met Tuesday, November 16th, for its regular weekly luncheon meeting. There were 37 members and 2 visitors in attendance. Among the visitors was one Mason High School Senior, Scott Gallagher.

Lion Nolan Donop was responsible for the program and he introduced Godfrey Riechel, a long-time friend, who spoke about his life as a child and young man growing up in Nazi Germany.

The program was very interesting and Godfrey had everyone in the palm of his hand as he told some of his stories. This space is way too small to begin trying to retell the adventures and lessons Godfrey related to the club.

The club's next meeting will be held Tuesday, November 23rd, at noon at Zavala's. The program chairman will be Ron Freytag and the program will be on green energy construction.

The Mason Lions has an ongoing program to recycle used eyeglasses to people who need them. Used eyeglasses may be given to any Lion or left in collection boxes at any of the local banks. Also, please contact any Mason Lion if you know of anyone in our community unable to afford appropriate eye care.
