The Fredericksburg Chorale, under the direction of Mark Hierholzer, will present its Christmas program at St. Joseph’s Hall, 212 W. San Antonio St. in Fredericksburg on Thursday evening, December 2 at 7:30 and on Saturday, December 4, at 3 pm and 7:30 pm. The concert will feature Old World carols representing many different European cultures and spanning several centuries. Languages being sung are English, Latin, Spanish, German, and Basque.
Intermixed with the twenty-five carols, arranged by Hierholzer, are five dances written for the program by Hierholzer for flute, violin, viola, cello, guitar, and accordion. These instruments will be involved as well in the performances of the carols.
The Saturday concerts include the Christmas concerto by Archangelo Corelli. The concerto will be performed by instrumentalists Sheila Kraus, Gavin Thompson, Theresa Britt, Katherine Thompson, Sarah Prislovsky, Garrett Thompson and Seth Young.
The audience will be invited to sing along with traditional carols throughout the program in this community celebration of the incarnation.
A free reception will accompany the concert and the public is invited to attend. Admission is by free will donation.
