Dear People of Mason:
Something extravagantly beautiful and majestic happened this past Sunday evening in Mason. It was just cold enough with a crispness in the air to remind you we were in the beginning of the winter months. It was still. It was 5:30 PM. Just beyond big double doors, an extravaganza was starting to take place as hand bells accompanied with kettle drums, conga drums, wind chimes, tambourine, cymbals, keyboard and more ushered in a most wonderful, glorious praise filled evening of Christmas music. Hearts and voices, Kristal bells played by the children, organ, piano, men's choir, mixed choirs, quartet, solos, and congregational singing (where we sang all the verses) and, surely, angels hovering overhead, filled the sanctuary of the First United Methodist Church during the Advent Festival last Sunday evening. Did all of Mason hear it? Sadly, not.
People of Mason could have packed "the square" as when the well coached, highly recognized football team was sent off with great anticipation and excitement over the coming game.
What a "send off" this Advent Festival was for those who attended. What more holy preparation could one have for the joyous occasion of the coming celebration of the Christ child?
If promises can be made on such, promise me you won't miss the next one.
And thank you, thank you to God's "well coached team" who worked long hours to put forth such a praise worthy event.
