Study Club, 1st Graders and the Library
Wednesday, December 8, 2010 • Posted December 8, 2010

On Thursday, December 02, 2010, Mason Study Club members gave tours of the Mason County M. Beven Eckert Library to first and second graders from Mason Elementary School. The children enjoyed decorating the library’s Christmas tree with decorations the Study Club helped them make a couple of weeks ago.

Rosemary Davis entertained the children with stories in the children’s center at the library and different members took groups on a tour of the library and showed them all the things that they and their parents can do at the library.

Many of the children had never been in the public library and all were enthused about their field trip there. Children were given a "play" library card with their name on it and when they bring a parent or adult in with them they can sign up for a real library card! We’re hoping this will motivate the children as well as family members to visit the public library and see all it has to offer – computers, DVDs and videos to check out, magazines, newspapers, books to purchase, Old Yeller items, a coffee/snack area, research area, and just about any kind of book you want!
