Operation Orphans Enjoys Fourth Hunt of the Season

Camp Gene Ashby welcomed 21 boys from 6 children's homes Friday, December 10. Homes bringing boys were: Donald & Nadine Hughes, San Angelo; Sweeten Home, Brownwood; Kidz Harbor, Liverpool; Hope for Tomorrow, Early; Methodist Home, Waco; and, Bluebonnet Youth, Yoakum. The 21 boys harvested 21 whitetail does, one spike, one buck, and one hog. Ranches that hosted the young and eager hunters were: Broken S Ranch, Mason County; Farmer Ranch, Mason; Goad Family Ranch, Mason; Indian Springs, Kerr; Lov Kuykendall, San Saba; and, Wojtek Ranch, Concho.

Mason Bottling Company once again provided soft drinks and Fredericksburg Bakery provided baked goods.

The fifth and final hunt for the "Take a Child Hunting" program of Operation Orphans, Inc. for the 2010-2011 season will be January 8. So far this season, 155 boys and girls have harvested 160 animals.
