Here’s hoping you all had a very Merry Christmas, enjoying food, family, and friends. But above all celebrating this season of hopefulness and the reason why.
We all are so grateful for the rain. No matter what amount we each received, every drop was wonderful!
Happy anniversary this week to Jackie and Dorothy Johnson on the 30th, Roger and Tyra Jordan on the 3rd, and John and Susie Jordan on the 4th. Celebrating birthdays this week are Anna Grace Durst on January 3rd, 2011, Clara Marie Cochran also on the 3rd, and Stephen Mutschink on the 4th. All of you all have a happy day.
On Sunday, we received a great report on our Art UMC Shoebox Ministry to Mexico. 77 shoeboxes filled with necessities as well as goodies made it to Mexico by Christmas Day.
The requests for prayers for healing were for James Cotter-Bill’s dad and Caroline Jordan; and continued prayers for Emilio Mutis, Ken Stahl, Jacob Bibb, Don Boyd, Tad Leifeste, Betty Kitchen, Tommy Ruffolo, Kendra Kensing Code, Paul Toeppich, and Tommy Garrett.
Please remember our loved ones in the nursing homes or who are homebound: Pearl Leifeste, Etta Marie Mutschink, Anna Grace Durst, Jane Krause, and Dick Pierson.
Keep our beloved military men and women in your prayers who are serving our country to defend our way of life and our freedoms. Pray for Taylor Slocum, Matt Krause, Stuart Jordan, Amanda Adams, Josh Calhoun, and Kyle Pierce.
Remember the family of Louise Simon in your prayers.
It was so nice to see so many of our dear visitors Sunday. People we love but are living elsewhere. Plus those that are becoming our dear friends.
Reverend Krause’s sermon was "It’s All About Family: the Family of God" , Hebrews 2:10-18. We are a part of the family of God. Not because we chose Him but because God chose us. He who is perfect, without blemish chooses us, chooses to make us holy. Wow! In these times, in this culture, we forget who we are. Have you ever had a time in your life when you felt unworthy? Well, Jesus came to purify us from all unrighteousness, once we confess our sins. Jesus gave up His place in Heaven to come to earth and become God’s Grace and Love. God loves us that much that He provided a way for us to overcome the power of evil. People ask why doesn’t God get rid of evil on the earth? In the Garden of Eden, God gave mankind a free will. We still have that free will and we make choices-some good, some bad. God would have to take away our free will completely in order to eliminate evil. God wants us to choose good and to reconnect to Him. God’s love conquers all.
Here’s hoping y’all have a blessed, safe, happy, and prosperous New Year! God Bless you all.
