Elizabeth Ann Ward Robertson was born September 23, 1922, in Decatur, Texas, to Elizabeth Penn Dixon Ward and Jesse Lawrence Ward. She departed this world on January 3, 2011, at Denison, Texas, and is with her father and all others that preceded her.
She attended Decatur public schools and several colleges and universities. Initially, she attended Baylor University. Later, she attended, Decatur Baptist College where her father was president and she taught there for three years. She attended North Texas State Teachers College and Texas State College for Women where she received an undergraduate degree in Education. After relocating to Lubbock, she earned Masters Degree from Texas Technological College.
She taught in Texas public schools most of her professional career and retired as Director of Special Education from Socorro I.S.D. After retiring from a career in education and moving to Denison, she started a craft store named "Rob’s Attic." and operated it for several years.
Elizabeth was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Denison and occasionally taught lessons in her Sunday school class and for her Circle meetings. She had an excellent memory and loved to tell stories and discuss the events of the day with family and friends. Even when age diminished her recall, she did not let that minor hurdle prevent her retelling a good story. She has maintained contact with life-long friends and corresponded with them by letter even though that form of communication has fallen out of favor. Had she been skilled in today’s technologies, she would have been "Twittering" and updating her friends on "Facebook."
She married her high school sweetheart "Gene" Kincaid and they had two children, Gene and Elizabeth. She later married W. A. Robertson who had two children from a previous union, Paul and Bobbie.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Pearl Ward and Ruth Reed, brother Penn Dixon, nephews Allen Reed and Buzzy Reed, husbands "Gene" and W. A., son Paul Robertson, and grandson Kirk Kincaid.
She is survived by children Gene Kincaid and wife Judy, Liz McKay, Bobbie Shultz and husband Steve, and Ruth Robertson, niece Jenny Ruth Friedel, 9 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren.
