8th Boys Basketball vs Junction, Sonora

The 8th grade boys traveled to Junction last weekend for a round robin tournament which included Sonora and Junction.

The Punchers took on the Junction Eagles in their first game and put together four strong quarters of basketball both in scoring and on defense. The Punchers scored ten, then twelve points respectively in the first two periods, then followed up in the second half with a total of twenty-four points.

Mason had seven players scoring in this game and three of them were in double figures. Good game and fun to watch.

In the second game the Punchers stepped into a buzz-saw when they took on the Broncos from Sonora. Sonora jumped to an early lead out-scoring the Punchers by nine points in the first period. Mason battled back in period two matching the Broncos with eight points. The big difference came in the third period with Sonora outscoring the home boys 0-16. Final 13-40.

In spite of the loss, it was a good tournament for the Punchers. Everyone played hard and it was a good experience. The Punchers were second in the competition.
