Riata Service Organization Meeting

Riata Service Organization met January 25, 2011, at the home of Lola Hohn with Beth Reardon as co-hostess. 25 members were present.

Vice President Joan Whitaker introduced the guest speaker, Jim Morris. Mr. Morris' topic was The Hill Country University in Fredericksburg. Students may complete first and second year basic courses through Austin Community College. Angelo State University offers three Masters programs for educators. Texas Tech University offers a comprehensive collection of degree programs. Concordia University offers a Bachelor of Arts in Business.

President Pat Tucker opened the business meeting by leading the members in the Woman's Creed. Officer's reports were given.

Civic chairperson, Doris Courtright, reported that the rummage sale will be March 5th, and that Riata members will participate in the Mason County Cancer Relay on April 30th at the Heritage Park. 10% of the money raised will go to the Cancer Society and 90% will stay in Mason.

Tess Geistweidt reported on the progress of the cookbooks.

A thank you note was read from the Puncher Backpack Program.

Meeting was adjourned.
