Young at Heart Ministry Choir at River of Life
Wednesday, February 16, 2011 • Posted February 16, 2011

We are so proud to announce that the YAH, Young at Heart Ministry Choir will be performing at The River of Live Church on Monday February 21st at 6:30 p.m. Young At Heart (YAH) ministry promotes senior adult companionship, fellowship, accountability, and active participation through singing and performance in communities all around the USA.

The artists of this group (choir members and technical musicians, 63 members) memorize and perform gospel and Christian music from earlier years. The members grew up with the music they sing and perform, and all performances are professionally given to show the seriousness of the artists’ dedication to the organization and purpose.

Seniors are encouraged and emotionally supported through the YAH Choir Ministries as many are suffering from depression, inactivity, discouragement, poor health, and loneliness. And some lack in compatibility with family, friends, and community. Both YAH members and our audiences need this encouragement and support.

Presently, the group performs an average of three concerts a month and travels nationally twice a year at its own expense, giving concerts in retirement homes, hospitals, jails and churches large and small, New Mexico, Colorado, Nevada, Kansas, California, Florida, Oklahoma, Missouri, Arizona, Texas and Arkansas and wherever they are invited. Most of the seniors in the YAH organization are of fixed income, and their ages range from 55 to 97 years. Some experience physical problems and emotional disabilities and are helped and encouraged by YAH.

So why would all these Golden Oldies "get up and go" just when they’ve earned a chance to "sit down and stay"? According to the medical profession, seniors who take the opportunity to serve their community or live out their faith can add years to their lives, or at the very least, make their golden years more healthy and fulfilling. But for the members of Young At Heart, it’s more than this. It’s an opportunity for them to share their heart by making a "joyful" and sometimes humorous "noise" for audiences young and old.

Please join us as we welcome this awesome group to the Mason community. If you would like to contribute to the meal that will be served to the Choir after the concert please contact The Mason County Chamber of Commerce 325-347-5758.
