If you have watched the talented team producing awesome cakes the Food Network’s "Ace of Cakes" and thought: "I would like to do that!" here is your chance to learn how:
Mason ISD Community Education is sponsoring a class on Tuesday, March 15 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. on basic techniques in cake decorating using fondant and gum paste. The class will be held in the home economics classroom at Mason High School. The instructor for this class is Mason’s own cake ace, Jennifer Barros, who does beautiful cakes (you can see some more of her cakes on her Facebook page: David-Jennifer Barros).
Using cupcakes and a St. Patrick’s Day creative theme, you will learn basic fondant techniques, including rolling, cut-outs, and coloring. You will also learn to make creative things with gum paste.
For this class, you will need to purchase a box of Wilton Pure White Rolled Fondant (24 ounces), available at Wal-Mart, or by ordering online at www.wilton.com. All other materials, including the cupcakes will be provided. Jennifer will show you how to make marshmallow fondant. In the future you can make your own fondant, which can either be combined with Wilton fondant to speed drying time, or can be used on its own.
