BOERNE, TX – March 1, 2011. Kerrville Performing Arts Society continues their tradition of excellence presenting the finest in performing arts in the Texas Hill Country. This non-profit 501(c)(3) organization brings a world of superb performing arts to local venues, providing unmatchable outreach programs for the youth of the community and offering scholarships to the future generation of performing artists.
Closing out the 2010-2011 season will be the legendary Johnny Carson era Tonight Show band leader…Doc Severinsen!! Winner of numerous Grammy Awards and one of the world’s most technically proficient trumpeters…Doc is a high note virtuoso that can blow a horn like few others!!! Doc has crafted an innovative and exciting program, "El Ritmo de la Vida" (The Rhythm of Life) where he combines Latino music, fused with the blues, in a European style. This ensemble has captivated audiences worldwide.
Folks remember, "He-e-e-e-re’s Johnny", and the wonderful days with Carson, McMahon and Severinsen, but Mother’s Day will be a very special occasion when the "Doctor" is in! Doc’s superb stage presence is legendary…and the audience is sure to enjoy his humor and wit along with his flair for outrageous fashion.
KPAS presentations over the past 27 seasons have included such world-renown artists as: The Ten Tenors, Marvin Hamlisch, Berlin Philharmonic Wind Quintet, The Canadian Brass, MOMIX, Bowfire, Trinity Irish Dancers, Soweto Gospel Choir, Vienna Choir Boys, and the Broadway touring production of "Peter Pan". The variety and high quality of the artists presented by KPAS rivals major cities in the United States.
The two performances featuring one of the world’s greatest trumpet virtuosos will be held on Sunday, May 8th and Monday, May 9th at Boerne Champion High School’s state-of-the-art Auditorium.
