Wednesday, March 16, 2011 • Posted March 16, 2011

The Friends of the Library are sponsoring and essay contest for students in grades Kindergarten through 12th.

The premise of the essay contest is to imagine, a la "Night at the Museum," what would happen if they were to spend a night in the library. What things or characters would come alive, and what would they have to say?

There are four different age group categories for the essay contest:

Kindergarten - 3rd Grade ($35 cash prize)

- Draw a picture and write a story about your night in the museum. Your entry needs to be on one sheet of 8.5" X 11" paper.

4th - 6th Grade - ($40 cash prize)

7th - 8th Grade - ($45 cash prize)

9th-12th Grade - ($50 cash prize)

- Write a story about your experience spending a night alone in the library. Limit your entry to five pages.

All entries must be personally delivered to the Eckert Memorial Library, 410 Post Hill Street in Mason by March 31, 2011. On the back of your entry, you must put your name, grade and a contact phone number. Winners will be announced in the Mason County News on April 13, 2011.
