The Mason Lions Club met Tuesday, March 15th, for its regular weekly luncheon meeting. There were 35 members and one visitor in attendance.
Lion Eldon Kothmann was responsible for the program and he introduced Charles Eckert, who spoke about Fort Mason.
Charles gave some insight into where the buildings were located according to some acheaological digs that were done by a group from Fort Concho in San Angelo, and the local school students. Some of these artifacts that were discovered had been labeled; but, those labels had been removed. Charles said that a dig would hopefully be done again in the near future.
The club's next meeting will be held Tuesday, March 22nd, at noon at Zavala's. The program chairman will be Fritz Landers.
The Mason Lions has an ongoing program to recycle used eyeglasses to people who need them. Used eyeglasses may be given to any Lion or left in collection boxes at any of the local banks. Also, please contact any Mason Lion if you know of anyone in our community unable to afford appropriate eye care.
