Next weekend, April 8th and 9th, the annual Lilly Joy Gamel Benefit Barrel Race and Team Roping will be held. This year's event is slated to benefit Jacob Bibb, a young Mason High School student who has been battling cancer.
The event is named after a young lady who lost her life almost a decade ago in a tragic accident. Lilly Joy had special needs; but, God also granted her special gifts which she shared with her family and her friends in and around Mason.
Jacob Bibb and his family have been working together courageously to ensure his return to health. As with most catastrophic illnesses, it is not just the immediate medical costs that begin burdening the family; but, instead it is the many smaller expenses that begin to add up: transportation, lodging, special hygiene requirements, special dietary needs.
The Bibb family provide a shining example of the power of faith and family in our modern world. We hope that everyone attending this great event keeps them in your prayers and thoughts.
