Wednesday, April 13, 2011 • Posted April 13, 2011

The Mason Tennis Association Tennis-A-Thon fundraiser was a smashing success in raising over $8500. The money will be used to improve our tennis center.About 85 of our tennis playing youth, ages 4 to 18, played tennis for 1 and 1/2 hours on March 20th and acquired sponsors who donated money to them for playing. The top fundraiser for this event was Lexie Bingham, a 5th grader, who raised $1759. Wow! 2nd place fundraiser was junior Matt Banner, who raised $1250. Super! Third place fundraiser was preschooler, John Preston Parrish, who brought in $325. Yippee! 4th place fundraiser this year was freshman Price Ruffin, raising $280. Awesome! The M.T.A. would like to thank our underwriters for the 2011 Tennis-A-Thon. Donating at the $500 gold level was the Mason National Bank and Dipsticks/Yokahama. Donating at the $250 silver level was The Commercial Bank, Short Stop and Nu-Way. First State Bank and Hemphill Insurance donated at the $100 bronze level. Without their generous help, our Tennis-A-Thon would not have been such a success.Special thanks go to Dr Pepper Bottling and Hill Country Trophies who donated prizes for the court winners on the day of the event. The M.T.A. would like to thank all of those tennis players and parents who worked so diligently in obtaining sponsors and all of you who were so gracious to donate to them. The support you showed was just wonderful.ger/apr 13 tennis a thon
