Public Invited to Dedication of Latest Habitat Home Thursday
Wednesday, April 20, 2011 • Posted April 20, 2011

Mason County Habitat for Humanity will dedicate its ninth home in the community on Thursday, April 21st at 4:30 p.m. This latest house is located at 421 Bridge Street and the board of Habitat, as well as the newest homeowners, invite everyone in the community to attend. We are happy to announce that this is the ninth Mason Habitat home built in nine years and the second certified ‘Green’ house in Mason County! There will be a short home dedication ceremony followed by light refreshments and fellowship. Everyone will be free to tour the home on their own and meet the new Habitat home owners, Javier and Liza Garcia and their five children. This will also give you an opportunity to ask questions about the building of the house and about ‘Green’ components used in the build. Our building supervisor, Keith Kaan, will be on hand to answers questions. You will also have the opportunity to meet the Habitat RV Care-A-Vanners who were instrumental in constructing the house. These volunteers travel all over the country to assist Habitat for Humanity in building homes for low income families. If you are interested in becoming a Care-A-Vanner, please visit with them about their experiences or with our Care-A-Vanner coordinator, Dave Sharbo. Once again, we are forever grateful to the businesses and individuals who donate their time, goods, skills, labor and funds to the building of these homes. We are also proud of our partner family, Liza & Javier, for the many, many hours they have worked to build their own home. Even the children contributed their special talents!Lastly, we invite everyone to get your tickets now to attend our annual Habitat for Humanity Spring Benefit. The tickets are by donation of $50 each. We have a wonderful band scheduled for entertainment, an outstanding gourmet dinner with desserts planned, wine tastings, auctions, and a lot of fun! This year’s Spring Benefit will be hosted by Bobbie & Lee McMillan on Saturday, May 14th from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. There are also opportunities to help underwrite the event if you are interested. For tickets, please call the Habitat office at 347-9591, contact any Habitat board member, or pick up a ticket at one of our sales sites: Sandstone Cellars Winery; Mason County Chamber of Commerce; Mason Garden Market; Mane Attraction Salon; Mason National Bank; The Commercial Bank; First State Bank.We look forward to seeing everyone and feel free to bring your neighbors with you to the Open House and Dedication Ceremony!ger/apr 20 habitat dedication
