Library Essay Contest Winners Announced
Wednesday, April 20, 2011 • Posted April 20, 2011

The Friends of the Library are pleased to announce the results of the Night at the Library essay contest. All of the entries were imaginative and well done. The judges read, reread, and reread some more to decide the winners. We foresee some Mason students following in the footsteps of Mason authors like Fred Gipson, Scott Zesch, Ron Birk and others! We would like to thank all the students who took the time to write about an imaginary night at the library. There were entries in each catogory with the 11th graders leading the pack with 35 of the 45 juniors entering an essay! Because of this excellent participation the essay committee decided to award a $50 cash prize to the junior class as a whole. The following students won in each catagory:K-3 “Please Don’t Ask” by Jax Tedder $35 cash prize4-6 “My Night at the Library” by Ryli Ruffin $40 cash prize7-8 “Night at the Library” by Erin Haley $45 cash prize9-12 “Night at the Library” by Claudia Canfield $50 cash prize
