Almost sounds like the name of a rock band.

It is.

Earth, Wind & Fire.

Also describes life in Texas.

West Texas.

The Panhandle.

Central Texas.

Man, it’s hot.

And dry.

And windy.

At this point, rain could sizzle away in a cloud of steam.

Gone before it gets here.

Unless it takes its time falling.

So let us pray.

Let us tempt fate.

Wash our vehicles.

Water our yards.

Hang our clothes out on the line.

Put on a new roof.

Start painting.

Start pouring concrete.

Start construction.

Works every time.

Rain falls as I write this.

So long, gloom and doom.

Celebrate this weekend.

Attend the annual art gala at the Old Peanut Mill.

Held by the Fine Arts Association of the Hill Country.

Food, drinks, and art.

And music.

And it’s all for sale.

Purchase an original work of art right here in your own backyard.

Plus an auction of other treasures will be held to raise funds for their annual scholarship.

Mark it down.

Saturday, April 30, from 6 to 9 pm.

Rain or shine.

That’s Mason.

Renee Walker is an author, poet, and real estate broker on the square.

members will be exhibiting a wide range of artwork.
