Mason Lions Roar

The Mason Lions Club met Tuesday, May 3rd, for its monthly business meeting. There were 34 members and three visitors in attendance. 1st Vice President, Kirby Groves, was responsible for the program and Secretary/Treasurer Gene Gammill read the minutes and gave the financial report.The club will have a hamburger lunch on the east side of the courthouse on Friday, May 27th. All proceeds go to the Lions charities.The list of new officers and directors for the July 2011 - June 2012 year was read to the club. They will be read again next week and be voted on along with any nominations from the floor.The club's next meeting will be held Tuesday, May 10th, at noon at Zavala's. The program chairman will be Dane Phillips.The Mason Lions has an ongoing program to recycle used eyeglasses to people who need them. Used eyeglasses may be given to any Lion or left in collection boxes at any of the local banks. Also, please contact any Mason Lion if you know of anyone in our community unable to afford appropriate eye care.
