Austin, TX, May 11 — Girl Scouts of Central Texas is currently registering girls, entering grades 1-12, for summer camp. Girls do not need to be currently registered members of Girl Scouts.Summer camps begin June 12 and continue through mid July at Camp Kachina on Lake Belton; Camp Texlake on Lake Travis; and Camp Wood Lake on Lake Brownwood. Camp sessions are overnight and range in length from two nights to five nights. Most camp sessions begin Sunday and end on Friday.Girls who attend Girl Scout camp have the opportunity to explore nature and discover the amazing experience of summer camp. Activities available at Girl Scout camp include canoeing, horseback riding, swimming, dance and more.At Girl Scout camp, girls can explore their interests, make new friends and develop independence in the safe setting of Girl Scouts. Qualified staff members help girls learn and grow while having fun by embracing and encouraging the principals of the Girl Scout Law: honesty, fairness, consideration for others, caring, courage, strength, personal responsibility, respect, resourcefulness, service and friendship.“For many girls, Girl Scout camp is the best week of their summer,” said Maranda Ribera, Camps Manager for Girl Scouts of Central Texas. “And for parents, it’s a safe, reliable experience that teaches their daughters life lessons and keeps the family budget balanced.”Camp fees include all activities, food, housing and supervision. Girl Scout summer camp sessions begin at $150 per session.
