Alfred 'Ray' Carter

Alfred ‘Ray’ Carter, was born March 28th., 1930, in Mason, TX, and passed away May 29th, 2011. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sophie and Tom Carter, and his brothers, Orville, Aubrey Daniel and Lloyd Carter. Ray is survived by: his brother, Doug Carter, of Harper, TX, his two children, Jamie Carter and Holly Carter-Black, five grandchildren, one great-grandchild, numerous nieces and nephews, and a very close friend, Judy Porter. Ray enjoyed working for his long-time friend, Jay Lee, for many years. He was a star football player in Harper Texas during his high school years; he was known to everyone as “Slim”. He also served his country in the United States Army for two years. He loved to hunt and fish and he never met a stranger. Viewing began the afternoon of the 29th and will continue from 7:30 AM to 9:00 PM everyday until the time of services. A visitation was held Tuesday, May 31st., from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at Gentry Funeral Home of Mason, TX, in the chapel, beginning 10:00 AM, on Wednesday, June 1st, 2011; with Rev. Dennie Jackson, presiding. Interment will follow in the Gooch Cemetery of Mason. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to the American Legion #285, P.O. Box 314, Mason, TX, 76856.Services are entrusted to Gentry Funeral Home.
