Many Thanks to Tad Leifeste-again-for coming to our rescue in order to be able to finish this week’s column! Hope each of you had a nice weekend as we paid our respects to our heroes. May we always honor those who served and died to safeguard this country. There are some holes that are made in our hearts that can not be filled.Whew! The wind she does blow! Maybe it will blow the grasshoppers away before they finish off my peppers. Well, I can wish it would happen even if I’m not holding my breath.A goodly number of the congregation from Art UMC went to the Llano River crossing at Castell for the Holy Baptism of Christian and Jordan Dyess. These two special young men and their sister, Dakota (also special) are the grandchildren of Bill and Monica Cotter. These three young people joined into membership at Art UMC. May God Bless you on your life’s journey.Birthdays this week are Bill Cotter on the 5th and Brian Fuqua on the 7th. May you have a great celebration. Having their anniversary this week are Kenneth and Brenda Kothmann. Hope you both enjoy your special day together! Just A note of interest – Jeff and Barbi Gentry have purchased Danny and Lenora Willmann’s place and are real happy with it. It is a little tight for five people and with four cooks, the kitchen is full. Danny did a great job on the house, sheds, fences and pens and the garden is great. They love it.Remember in your prayers our military men and women who are away from home and family as they carry out their duties. There are many from Mason county and those close to us, Amanda Adams, Stuart Jordan, Taylor Slocum, Matt Krause, Josh Calhoun, and Kyle Pierce. Please pray for our loved ones that are homebound or in a nursing home, Etta Marie Mutschink, Pearl Leifeste, Anna Grace Durst, Jane Krause, and Dick Pierson. The prayer concerns voiced were for the needed RAIN and continued healing for Mike Woods. Our joys were for the baptism of Christian and Jordan Dyess.Pastor Mark’s sermon was titled “Follow the Spirit”, John 14:15-21. We are to love God and love one another. Jesus showed us how to love and His example is ever before us. Jesus sent His Holy Spirit to guide and strengthen us. As Jesus was talking to the disciples, He reassured them that He was coming back but in the meantime He was giving them a comforter, the Holy Spirit. When we are obedient to God and His will, the Holy Spirit grows deeper in us. Then each day as we accept God’s love and the Holy Spirit, they direct our conduct. Is it easy to love everyone? No it is not. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, God’s love is multiplied within us to be used for His Glory. We have the Holy Spirit without limit. Believe in the Son of God, Jesus Christ, and He gives us true, full life with the Holy Spirit. All y’all have splendid week. Enjoy the blessings. Pray for those hurting and in crisis.
