Local organizers are excited to present the sixth annual Vernon West Memorial Roping in Mason June 10-12. Action begins on Friday afternoon with barrel racing and continues Saturday morning with calf roping. Dancing to the great music of Mack Abernathy will be featured Saturday evening. Sunday will feature a full day of team roping with a preliminary roping followed by an invitational. All proceeds raised through this event benefit the Vernon West Memorial Scholarship Fund. The fund, which began in 2006, has awarded over $35,000 in scholarships to graduating high school seniors which are involved with agriculture and rodeo activities.
