It's dry and drier and the driest I can remember it being. Lord please give us some rain and relief. Prayers this week were asked for Kathy Jordan's mom Dolores Wilson, Mike Wood, Sara Krause and Maribelle Hoerster. Please keep these people in your thoughts and prayers. Also remember the housebound or those in a nursing home, Pearl Leifeste, Dick Pierson, Jane Krause, Etta Marie Mutschink and Anna Grace Durst.Always remember the sacrifices our servicemen and women are making to keep our country free. We owe them a tremendous debt and our prayers for their safety are only a small thing we can do-Stuart Jordan, Josh Calhoun, Amanda Adams, Taylor Slocum, Matt Krause and Kyle Pierce. There are no birthdays on our calendar this week, but we have three anniversaries to celebrate: Scott and Kacie Ceynowa on the 17th, Trey and Natalie Hudson on the 18th and Randy and Kim Hinckley on the 19th. Have a wonderful day. This past Saturday evening at Art UMC, we had a going away dinner for our Pastor Mark and his family. Their new appointment was very surprising and has been difficult to accept. A very dear friend helped me write the following poem: There once was a man of faith so very deep, That he knew he would find a Church to keep. They told him where he would go. It would be a perfect place, he did know. Art was a dot on the map one day. The next, a new place to preach and pray. His name was Mark and Barbara was his lovely wife. They took their two children to Art and started their new life. As we got to know him quite well. We learned some things we could tell. He loves chocolate, loves it in all things. Without nuts, is what we could all bring. Fishing and golf are things that he does love. Along with a good life, thanks to God above. We put him on the stage right away. With a big role in our little play. He teased about having too many lines. As in everything he did, it turned out fine. Everyone grew close to this man with his smile. We didnt think we would lose him for quite a while. The time flew by so fast. Friendships will forever last. Your caring and concern will be missed by all. Your successor's job will be tall. You made our lives complete. No one better will we ever meet. Please know in our hearts, we will always carry you. No matter where you go or what you do. You'll always have friends here. We all hold you very dear.Letting you go will be so very hard. Even though you're just going to Menard. We certainly wish Mark and Barbara the very best at their new church and look forward with interest as our new pastor arrives this week. Pastor Cliff Krcha and his wife Vicki will begin their appointment with us on Sunday, June 19th. There will be a covered dish luncheon after services to welcome them to our Art church.May this week bring each of us something special, whether it be happiness or joy or contentment or peace. I know I look forward to something resembling hope. My spirit has been shaken by certain events this last week and I would like to find the quiet to restore my hope. Just a little hope, thats all I want.
