The Mason Lions Club met Tuesday, June 7th, for its monthly business meeting. There were 41 members and three visitors in attendance. "Boss" Lion John Gammill was responsible for the program, and in the absence of Secretary/Treasurer Gene Gammill, the minutes and financial report were not given.District 2-A1 Governor Al Owen from San Angelo was on hand to install three new members: Brad Glass - Sponsor, Mark Lehmberg; Tom Tannehill - Sponsor, Pat Reardon; and, Chase Smith - Sponsor, Will Slaughter. District Governor Owen also installed the new officers who will take office July 1st. The names of those officers and their positions will be published later.District Governor Owen also took approximately 150 pairs of used eyeglasses back to the San Angelo Eyeglass Recycling Center that the Mason Lions had collected. Thank you, Mason residents, for your help in collecting the eyeglasses!!The club's next meeting will be held Tuesday, June 14th, at noon at Zavala's. The program chairman will be Glenn Ruthven.The Mason Lions has an ongoing program to recycle used eyeglasses to people who need them. Used eyeglasses may be given to any Lion or left in collection boxes at any of the local banks. Also, please contact any Mason Lion if you know of anyone in our community unable to afford appropriate eye care.
