Wednesday, June 22, 2011 • Posted June 22, 2011

The biennial Kothmann Reunion was held in Mason on Saturday, June 11. Ken and Brenda Kothmann of Mason were co-chairs of this year’s reunion and they did a superb job. Registration and visiting began at 9 a.m. with a wonderful BarBQ lunch following at 11:30 a.m. A short business meeting was held to discuss primarily the maintenance and upkeep of the Kothmann Cemetery in Art as well as the work being done on publishing the next edition of the family genealogy, The Kothmanns of Texas. After lunch a panoramic photo was taken of all attendees and visiting continued. Dora Wright of Menard (chair of the Kothmann Book Committee) coordinated the updating of contact information and submittal of items for the next edition of the Kothmann book. Scattered around the room were old photos including group photos from prior reunions. Attendance was estimated to be 315. Several special recognition awards were given:

Oldest Attendee: Arthur Kothmann (91 years)*

Youngest Attendee: Gunner Barrington (7 weeks)

Farthest Traveler: Niel Donop (from China)

Most Descendants Present: Ernest Leifeste (21 descendants present)*

after the awards were complete, Willie Mae Oesterlich (96 years) arrived late.It was decided to continue tradition and have the next Kothmann Reunion on the second Saturday in June, two years hence (June 8, 2013). Leslie Kothmann of Boerne agreed to chair that event.
