Annual Gathering June 14 In Doss For Geistweidts

Nearly 100 descendants attended the Wilhelm and Johann Heinrich Geistweidt family reunion held Saturday, June 14 at the home of Kurt and Tuttie Geistweidt at Doss.

A covered dish dinner was served along with barbecue brisket, pork and sausage prepared by barbecue chairman Dennis Crenwelge and his crew.

The annual business meeting was led by Adam Geistweidt, president, who recognized Melrose Geistweidt Leifeste as the oldest lady in attendance while Dan Anderegg received recognition for the men.

Isaiah St. Pierre, seven-month-old son of Jake and Sarah Monk St. Pierre, was the youngest child present.

Dan and Mary Anderegg were recognized as the couple married the longest at 60 years, while Gary and Peggy Cox Geistweidt were the newlyweds, at seven months.

Megan Bass of Carthage traveled the farthest to attend this year’s gathering.

Seven individuals who died during the past year were remembered and include Benno Eckert Jr., Weldon Whitaker, Loreen Geistweidt, Bobby Kordzik, Dorothy Anderegg, Genevieve Loeffler Bruce and Horace Brandenberger.

During the officer election, Sherrie Geistweidt was named president, and Gary Geistweidt, vice president to serve along with hold-over secretary-treasurer Cindy Schmidtzinsky.

Outgoing officers include Adam Geistweidt, president, and Mandy Geistweidt, vice president.

Next year’s reunion will be held Saturday, June 13, and will be hosted by Mark and Judy Geistweidt Lehmberg.
