Overwhelming kindness from good hearted Texas folks...... I am Ray Carter’s niece. His brother, Dug Carter is my dad. As you know, Uncle Ray passed away recently. Prior to his passing, he “adopted” Judy Porter. After his passing we were not sure what would happen with her. I was glad to bring her to Bandera, Texas where we live if she wanted to come but Judy wanted to stay in Mason. The day of the funeral, Judy asked me to take her to the Post Office, Bank and a couple of other places in town. I was so pleasantly surprised when every single person we came in contact with hugged Judy and seemed truly concerned about her. After leaving each one that we came in contact with (which happened to be all ladies including a cousin of mine I had never met), Judy said “that is the sweetest woman in the world”. I realized that your precious little town had very good, caring and sweet people living there. It gave me so much peace to realize if Judy stayed in Mason, she would be surrounded by great people. Judy’s words were apparently very true, there are very sweet people living there. I know the importance of people treating “special” people with love and care so, on behalf of my entire family I would like to say THANK YOU to those of you that truly care about Judy and watch out for her.
