The Mason Lions Club met Tuesday, June 17th, for its regular weekly luncheon meeting. There were 43 members and 4 visitors in attendance.
Lion Jerry Bearden was responsible for the program and he spoke about the Mason County Courthouse. Jerry, being the County Judge, gave a brief history of the Courthouse and then talked about the needed repairs that the Courthouse roof was needing as well as some structural problems that were going to need to be addressed in the near future. Judge Bearden spoke about the discussions he and the commissioner's Court had and they decided to apply for a Texas Courthouse Restoration Grant. This will be an ongoing process.
The club's next meeting will be held Tuesday, June 24th, at noon at Zavala's. The program will be Installation of the New Officers by the District Governor.
The Mason Lions Club has ongoing program to recycle used eyeglasses to people who need them. Used eyeglasses may be given to any Lion or left in collection boxes at any of the local banks. Also, please contact any Mason Lion if you know of anyone in our community unable to afford appropriate eye care.
