The Mason Lions Club met Tuesday, June 21st, for its regular weekly luncheon meeting. There were 31 members in attendance. Lion Charles Reichenau was responsible for the program and talked about fishing in Brazil. He has been 27 times and will go again in December, he said. Charles' first trip was in the early 1990s. He and his fishing buddies fish for peacock bass on the Rio Negro, which empties into the Amazon River. Charles said he likes to use top-water baits; but, some pefer other types of bait. Charles related several stories of his trips over the years; but, the best was when he caught a 21 pound, 3 ounce fish. It is quite a story, and maybe he will tell you about it if you just ask him.The club's next meeting will be held Tuesday, June 28th, at noon at Zavala's. The program chairman will be Pat Reardon. The Mason Lions has an ongoing program to recycle used eyeglasses to people who need them. Used eyeglasses may be given to any Lion or left in collection boxes at any of the local banks.
