Football Season Update
Wednesday, July 6, 2011 • Posted July 6, 2011

Football season is quickly approaching and my family and I couldn’t be more excited to start off this season as Mason Punchers! We have already experienced an overwhelming welcome from the community. Coming back “home” has shown me that this community is just as I remembered – friendly, supportive, and loves Friday night football! I am excited for the opportunity to lead this athletic program because of the tradition of success and excellence, and I look forward to continuing this tradition in the future. My wife and I are looking forward to joining the faculty and staff of Mason I.S.D. which has a reputation in academic excellence, and we are excited that our girls will begin their education here.Two-a-days will begin on August 1st at 7am. A complete practice schedule for two-a-days will be published at a later date. Prior to this date, the following documents must be completed and turned in before athletes can participate in practice:§ Medical history§ Physical (if needed)§ Acknowledgement of rules§ Steroid testing agreementWe will have another opportunity for any athletes (7th-12th) to obtain a physical for $5 at the high school if they were unable to obtain one at the previous opportunity. The date and time are not yet finalized, but will also be published at a later date, as well as be broadcasted on KNEL and KLHB. If there are any questions about what needs to be completed, please feel free to contact me at 325-347-1122. Also, all the young men that are entering into the 9-12 grades that are planning on playing football will have the opportunity to participate in a “strength / conditioning” camp. This camp will be a great chance for me to meet our athletes and to establish a line of communication. The workouts will include weight training, conditioning, stretching, etc… all of which will be very helpful in getting our athletes prepared for the goal of making it to “DECEMBER FOOTBALL” This free camp will take place in the weight room from 7-8 pm on the following dates:July 11-14 (M-TH)July 18-21 (M-TH)July 25-27 (M-W)

I look forward to serving this athletic program and community, and I’m proud to once again be a Mason Puncher! My first memories of Puncher football began as a ballboy on the sidelines back in the 80’s, progressed to playing as a Puncher, and now have moved full circle to coaching which is quite an honor. If there are any questions, please feel free to call me at the school or email me at: kade.burns@masonisd.netGo Punchers and Cowgirls!!!
