Fourth of July passed by.And nary a flame flickered.Or a flicker flamed.Or a sparkler sparkled. One mean drouth put it all out.No fireworks! No fires! But freedom lives on.Burning in the hearts and minds of millions everywhere.Especially if you don’t have it.Or lose it.Or abuse it.Free.From the Old English freo.According to trusty Webster, means “not in bondage, noble, glad, illustrious.”Some of us are born free.Breathe freely.Move freely about.Free of pain.Give a free hand.Freeload.Get a free pass.Work free-lance.Enjoy our free time.Write free verse.Engage in free speech.Live free-spirited.Read the free press.Do a free fall.Free-thinking.Free love.Free of fear.Free of regrets.Free of judgment.Free of debts.Give things away for free.Get in for free.Set an animal free.Free-range chicken.Free to go.Free to choose.Free to leave.Free to start over. After all, we have free will.Every day.All day.Let freedom ring. That’s Mason.
