The Mason Lions Club met Tuesday, June 28th, for its regular weekly luncheon meeting. There were 35 members and six visitors in attendance. Lion Pat Reardon was responsible for the program and he introduced Dr. James Morris who spoke about the Texas Tech University campuses in Fredericksburg and Junction.James is the Director of Off Campus Academic Affairs, and Associate Professor of Marriage & Family Therapy. Dr. Morris talked about all the different degrees one could obtain at the different locations, the different classes offered, and, of course, the cost of tuition, which really got our attention. Dr. Morris answered several questions from the membership. Jim Heath was my guest, and joined the club after the program was complete. The club's next meeting will be held Tuesday, July 5th, at noon at Zavala's. The program will be the monthly business meeting. Wibby Shearer will have the program on July 12th, Will Slaughter on the 19th, and Ted Smith on the 26th.The Mason Lions has an ongoing program to recycle used eyeglasses to people who need them. Used eyeglasses may be given to any Lion or left in collection boxes at any of the local banks. Also, please contact any Mason Lion if you know of anyone in our community unable to afford appropriate eye care.
