The Mason Lions Club met Tuesday, July 5th, for its monthly business meeting. There were 27 members in attendance.

New "Boss" Lion, Kirby Groves, was responsible for the program, and Secretary/Treasurer Gene Gammill read the minutes and gave the financial report.

Lion Fritz Landers gave an interesting talk on the U.S. flag during the Civil War. He said, at that time, there were 35 stars on the flag, and this included the southern states that had seceeded from the Union; but, the states' stars remained on the flag.

The club's next meeting will be held Tuesday, July 12th, at noon at Zavala's. The program chairman will be Wibby Shearer.

The Mason Lions has an ongoing program to recycle used eyeglasses to people who need them. Used eyeglasses may be given to any Lion or left in collection boxes at any of the local banks. Also, please contact any Mason Lion if you know of anyone in our community unable to afford appropriate eye care.
