Texas Songwriters in the Round at Sandstone Cellars
Wednesday, July 20, 2011 • Posted July 20, 2011

On July 21st, be at Sandstone Cellars Winery, where something old and something new is brewing! Mason Texas is a small, historic town near the very heart of Texas, with one of the best wineries in the state right on the square, and there’s music brewing in them thar’ hills. Sandstone Cellars, an award winning local vineyard and wine producer supports the arts. Texas Songwriters in the Round supports local farmers, community and universal music! A non-profit songwriting group since 1999, TSR hosts a show every third Thursday of the month thru October 2011 at Sandstone. Each month there is a special guest, the July guest is David Byboth from Wimberley Texas. As a teenager in the suburbs of Dallas, David bought his first guitar with money earned framing houses. With early influences like Harry Chapin, Neil Diamond and Cat Stevens the songwriter seed was planted. After spending quite a few years learning everyone else’s songs He realized that spending only half that much time writing original tunes was even more fulfilling. “About that time, all I was listening to were Texas Songwriters like Rusty Weir, Guy Clark, Jerry Jeff Walker, Robert Earl Keen and Townes Van Zandt”, David says. This is where my songwriting roots are buried. Four years ago, David quit Corporate America and cut his first CD, “My Mind’s Eye”, produced by Ray Wylie Hubbard and started gigging. Now working on the songs for his next CD, the Wimberley resident is becoming a well known talent in the New Braunfels music Scene.Jerialice Arsenault, the founder, is proud of the numerous songwriters who have graced the stage over the years, including Steve Brooks, Brenda Freed, Daniel Makins, oe King Carrasco and many more. Karen Abrahams is the August special. The goal of TSR is to enable songwriters and their motto is “Tomorrow’s HIts Today!” Be sure to ask about their 4-step program! After showcasing in many towns throughout the hill country the show has returned to Mason County where the Texas Topaz Gemstone shines bright on the red granite escarpments, creeks and rivers. It is a perfect pairing of beauty and creative energy.Jerialice has been an award winning songwriter since 1980 and is also a producer and engineer in her state-of-the-art recording studio on the Llano River near Castell, Texas. She believes that all songwriters need a platform within an incubator to develop new ideas and to share in the common ground of the music business. Although not all songwriters perform, TSR specializes in those who do, thus bringing family entertainment to the towns in the Texas hills. TSR does travel at times and also benefits Chemo Sabe, a musical out-reach program for those undergoing chemotherapy for cancer or hepatitis C. TSR is affiliated with Dallas Songwriters Association and often swaps songs, writers and information. The town of Mason supports the arts and has donated to make this event possible. All songwriters are welcome and a free glass of wine to those who brave the stage! There is an open mic from 9:30 to 10:00. Come on down!!
