The Mason Lions Club met Tuesday, July 12th, for its regular weekly luncheon meeting. There were 32 members and eight visitors in attendance. Lion Will Slaughter was responsible for the program and he introduced Spencer Bierschwale who spoke about the Texas Bobwhite Brigade.Spencer attended the Rolling Plains Bobwhite Brigade on June 19-22, in Talpa, Texas. Spencer told us all about the things he did and what he learned. He said the best part was the food.Spencer, who just turned 14 years old, was the youngest cadet at this camp. This was his first presentation, and he wants to do more so he can earn enough points to go back next summer as an assistant leader.The club's next meeting will be held Tuesday, July 26th, at noon at Zavala's. The program chairman will be Ted Smith.The Mason Lions has an ongoing program to recycle used eyeglasses to people who need them. Used eyeglasses may be given to any Lion or left in collection boxes at any of the local banks. Also, please contact any Mason Lion if you know of anyone in our community unable to afford appropriate eye care.
