Football season is finally upon us! Two-a-days begin August 1, followed by the first scrimmage in Ozona on August 13th. It’s a whole new season and expectations are high.No one probably understands those expectations more readily than new head coach, Kade Burns. Coach Burns is no stranger to Mason having graduated from Mason High School in 1995, and earning a degree in sports science from ACU in 2000. From 2000-2003, he was an assistant coach at Abilene Wylie. From there, he was in Ballinger for the 2004-2005 season followed by a five year stint at Monahans. Most recently, Coach Burns headed up the football program at Thorndale from 2009-2011.Please mark your calendars. Puncher fans will get a chance to meet their Punchers and the coaches on August 18th after the 5:00 PM home scrimmage against Blanco. The Mason Puncher Club is hosting the “Meet the Punchers” annual BBQ. We guarantee the BBQ will be excellent and our Punchers will provide a look at the new offense and defense during the scrimmage. What is needed is YOU, your family and friends. The BBQ is $8 per plate and donations are greatly appreciated! Admission is free. Where else can you get a deal like this? While you are there, consider joining The Puncher Club and help support all of our coaches and student athletes. Membership is just $25. GO PUNCHERS!
