Rain! How sweet it is. Just a drop in the drought bucket but hey, we have to start some were. Just thought I would start out on a positive note. On the weekend I finally found the time to read the MCN cover to cover. This week the letters to the editor kinda caught me off guard. There were three letters regarding the recent educational meeting at the Eckert Center on Sharia Law and the Muslim Brotherhood. My first thoughts were wow did these people go to the same meeting I attended? Oops my bad, the paper comes out on Wednesday and the meeting was on Thursday wasn't it? Yes it was Thursday, I remember driving through the rain to get there. So these nice folks were able to come to conclusions and make statements about a meeting before it even takes place. Now that sounds like a witch hunt to me. Ms. O'Brien is a volunteer who drove down here on her own dime because she was invited by the Republican Women of Mason County and the Teaparty. The only hard sale was a ten dollar donation if you wanted one of the publications she had brought with her. She is a passionate women. I did not hear any hate speech or bigotry. What I heard was a women that loves the country she was so fortunate to have been born in and is willing to volunteer a great potion of her time to provide people with information they may not otherwise have access to. To the best of my recollection there was no screaming "kill the Muslims". But there was some very eye opening information presented. Most of which seemed to be backed by facts. And yes my mean ol Republican wife did fork out the ten dollars for the Sharia Law book so we could do some more homework. We live in some very interesting times and we best educate ourselves. If you have not heard, there are some people of the Muslim faith, and its no small number, who have declared war on you and me. "Death to America" is not a chant used by a small fringe group of students at some campus. If you have not heard and seen it than you have not been paying attention. Maybe its time to pay attention and learn as much as we can.Thank you Ms. O'Brien for taking the time to come all the way down here to Mason.
God Bless America,
