Many Thanks, Tad for handling the “Bits” while I went to San Diego for a bit of playtime, birthdays, and above all else a wonderful time with family! We went to the beach several times and that is an experience. Every time I got in the water I was amazed at how frigid the water is on the skin. I understand the science but when I think of surfing and and the similar type of “California experiences”, all I can say is Yikes! I kept looking for icebergs. Another day we went on a nice long hike through the Mission Trails. They kept me happily busy. One of God’s greatest gifts is family.Celebrating their anniversary this week are Sam and Maribelle Hoerster and Mark and Barbara Krause on the 19th and John and Susan Ceynowa on the 23rd. Congratulations y’all! Birthdays this week are Danny Mac Jordan on the 17th, Susan Ceynowa on the 18th, and Elliot Bibb on the 23rd. Wishing you all a happy celebration. (you too, Annette). Please pray for those homebound and in the nursing homes, Anna Grace Durst, Dick Pierson, Pearl Leifeste, Etta Marie Mutschink, and Johnita Bohmfalk. Please continue your prayers for our service people Josh Calhoun, Stuart Jordan, Taylor Slocum, Kyle Pierce, Amanda Adams, and Matt Krause. On Sunday, August 21st, we will be having a Family Fellowship Meal after church. Come visit and stay for a great meal.On Monday, August 22nd, please join us to cover text books at the Elementary-Junior High School Library, we will meet at 8 A.M.Prayer requests were for Rain!, Don and Marge Boyd as they are home after her surgery and need continued healing; Sam and Maribelle Hoerster with a good report by her doctors and for continued healing; Ron and Cheryl Fritze as they minister to Bobby Sievers and for his healing; Charlie Morris and DeeDee; Jordan Dyess for healing; and the family of Russ (Pastor Cliff’s friend) during their time of sorrow.Pastor Cliff’s sermon continues in Genesis 45:1-15, with the story of Joseph. God used the evil his brothers meant for him, to help Joseph’s entire family be rescued during a seven year drought. Joseph didn’t know what was to happen to him when he was sold and taken to Egypt but he had faith in God. And sometimes that is all we can do, have faith that God will take alot of bad and use it for His ultimate will. In Matthew 15:10-28, Jesus is getting after the Pharisees for honoring their traditions more than the commandments of God. For some traditions go against God. Jesus explained that what goes in our mouth does not defile us but what comes out of our mouth. Later when Jesus was asked to heal the Canaanite woman’s daughter, it was quite a big deal for the Canaanites were looked down upon. Sort of the lowest of the low in society. But Jesus rewarded her for her faith, and healed her daughter. We are to choose life (goodness over evil) and to choose to love God with our whole being.
