I’ve read your letters, and understand there is fear about Sharia law taking over our legal system. You make the argument that there is separation of church and state in our country. That in Muslim countries church and state operate hand in hand, and you don’t want that to happen here.Well, guess what, I have the same fear, but my fear is not about Muslims, it’s about some Christians that are actively trying to push their religion more and more into our government. There are Christian groups actively working to put politicians in office that will do their work. Remember the Moral Majority? Remember C Street and The Family? The Family supports politicians that support their causes. It looks to me like the American Family Association, a conservative Christian organization, has handpicked Rick Perry to work for them. The largest attack on women’s health care rights in over a generation is going on right now in most states, with the main goal of further restricting abortions. Now that’s pushing some Christian beliefs on the American population by force using government, and it’s not right. If Sharia law scares you, think about the importance of separation of church and state. Think about how we all have different sets of beliefs. Our government’s job is not to legalize one set of beliefs, Christian or Muslim, at the expense of others beliefs. Before you go off about Muslims abusing our political and legal system, look closer to home and you may see more of the same.
