High School ACE Program Meets Before School
Wednesday, August 24, 2011 • Posted August 24, 2011

For the last seven years, Mason ISD has been a recipient of the 21st Century Community Learning Centers federal grant. For the first five years, the program served the elementary and junior high schools. For the last two years, we began including the high school level – but with a twist! With so many of our high school students involved in afterschool activities, we decided to have a BEFORE school program for them. We began by offering expanded homework assistance from 7:30 to 8:30, Monday through Thursday. This year, we are branching out even more. In addition to the homework assistance, we will have other offerings, such as SAT/ACT preparation, driver’s education and community service opportunities. We are also looking into providing even more early morning classes such as speed reading and personal finance/money management at a later date. Classes will begin August 29th. If you have questions, please contact Cindy Powell or Jane Vargas at 347-1122, ext 240.
