We had a great time at the 4-H Enrollment Night/Pool Party on August 1. We enjoyed supper, filled out enrollment forms, and had a great time in the city pool. Thanks to everyone who attended!! If you still need to enroll in 4-H (this needs to be done every year) please come by the Extension office at 505 Moody Street (In the Historical Building with the Senior Center) any morning and Martha or Kristy will help you sign up. There is now a $20 enrollment fee (mandated at the State level due to budget cutbacks) to sign up. The fee will go up to $25 if you don’t pay it by October 31st and you must enroll to be able to show livestock or participate in 4-H activities! You will now have the option to be able to receive the 4-H Newsletter by email or regular mail. 4-H Officers were elected at the pool party.

We were so pleased to have 2 4-H recordbooks turned in for competition this year. Both are from Senior 4-Hers and placed 1st in their categories at District Competition! When they went on to State Competition, Gabe Jennings placed 1st in the Sheep Category and Courtney Brown placed 11th in the Rabbit Category. We are so proud! We enjoyed a fun day of sewing on August 17, with 9 girls attending! Project leader Gerry Daniels was wonderful in leading the girls in making cute tote bags that will be just in time for back to school. The next project up is Foods and Nutrition. We will hold a day of lessons (“Food & Fun Day”) in October, usually on a Saturday morning or a Sunday afternoon. If you are interested in your child participating or if you’d like to help or be a leader for this project, please call the Extension office at 347-6459 and we will get you more details!
